Bringing Us To This Day

shehekianu

Baruch ata Adonai Elohenu, Melekh ha’olam, shehekianu,
v’kimanu, v’higianu lazman hazeh.

Praised be You, Adonai our God, King of the Universe,
who has kept us alive, and has preserved us, and enabled
us to reach this day.

In her book, The Tapestry of Jewish Time, Rabbi Nina Beth Cardin states: "A simha is a religious pause along life's road, a joyous launching of a new part of one's life along a chosen path, witnessed and defined by a community of sojourners".  As that community, it is our priviledge to share in your joyous occasion, whether it be a brit milah, baby naming, bar or bat mitzvah celebration, confirmation or marraige.  Learn more.
